Every year we offer our guests the opportunity of watching & riding a “Tour de France” stage.
In 2022, you will witness & ride, 2 high-mountain stages & 1 stage start.
A few hours before the peloton you will ride on the very same route as the Pros.You will be completely immersed into the unique atmosphere of “Le Tour”. While climbing, you will often wonder if you are not wearing the Yellow Jersey, as spectators and other riders will cheer you up.
During your journey you will conquer some of Tour de France’ most epic climbs : Lacets de Montvernier, Col de Chaussy, Col du Lautaret, Col du Galibier, Col du Télégraphe & Alpe d’Huez. Do not forget to enjoy the stunning Alpine panorama & try to spot a groundhog !
Throughout the week, our team will provide support with our assistance vehicle. Our road captains will advise you on how to tackle best those mythical climbs and the long downhills that follow, at the same time help you improve your bike handling techniques.
After a warm welcome at Grenoble TGV station, a short transfer to Chambery, your hotel check-in, we will enjoy a panoramic ride around Bourget Lake. It will allow us to get to know each other and to adjust your bike.
Daily Mileage: 62,7km / Elev + 783 m
“Lacets de Montvernier” translates to shoelaces of Montvernier. First featured in the 2015 Tour de France, this CAT 3, 3 km climb (8,2 % avg) will knock your socks off ! After a few kilometres of recovery you will tackle a CAT 2, Col de Chaussy (14 Km at 7,5 %. The reward for reaching the summit will be an authentic lunch in one of those typical Alpine restaurants. As a "dessert" we will finish with a 15 km downhill.

First featured in the 1911's edition, Col du Galibier, is one of the highest summits (2,645 m), in Tour de France. Starting from the Oisans valley, you will climb, as a warm-up, the first 3 Km of Alpe D’Huez, then ride on a balcony road that will lead you to Col du Lautaret (CAT 1, 34km at 3,85%) & Galibier. After you've reached the summit of this H.C climb (8,6 Km at 6,8 %), you will enjoy the downhill that follows, towards lunch at our favorite farmhouse café. After a few “digestive” Kilometres (in downhill) we will then reach our hotel, where you will enjoy a well deserved recovery massage.

Ready for your first Tour de France stage of the week ? Hours before the peloton, you will tackle 2 Tour de France’s “monuments” : Col du Télégraphe (CAT 1, 10,9 Km at 7,1 %) & Col du Galibier (CAT H.C, 18 Km at 7,2 % ). Once done, you will enjoy a picnic in optimum hospitality conditions. You will, then, need to spot “Le maillot Jaune” to take the perfect shot. After the race, and a 15Km downhill, you will head back to our hotel, where you will get a great recovery massage.

Conquering the Alpe d’Huez is entering the Legend! Since it was first featured in Tour De France (1952), no other summit has had such drama. With its 21 hairpins, a 8 % gradient (Cat H.C), over 14 Km, its spectators concentration (half a million), Alpe d'Huez is a mix of success, defeat, sweat & tears. Upon climbing this legend, hours before the Pros, you will wonder if you are not wearing the Yellow jersey, as spectators and other riders will cheer you up throughout the 14 km climb. After your effort, you will join BéloVélo's team at a strategic position to enjoy where you will enjoy the race in optimum hospitality conditions. After the race and a transfer back to our hotel we will all share a gala dinner where we will celebrate your week’ achievements

After a 25 km downhill accompanied by the first sun rays. You will be able to see all your road heroes, from up close. You will also surely enjoy the unique atmosphere of a Tour de France' stage Start. Be amazed by the whole organisation of France’s biggest “circus”. After attending the stage' start, we will stop in Grenoble, where you will be able to refresh yourself before heading back to your plane or TGV.

Flying to France: To minimize the risk of delays, recover from jet lag, we do advise you to land in Paris (CDG) or Lyon/ Geneva on Saturday.
From Paris you will then will a TGV (high speed train) on Sunday morning. https://www.raileurope.com/index.html. Alternatively, we may arrange an airport transfer from Lyon or Geneva (additional cost may apply).
We will welcome you at Grenoble TGV station (or Lyon/ Geneva airport) on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
At the end of your journey, on Friday, we will drive you back to Grenoble TGV station, to be able to board your return TGV from 2:00 pm onwards. For planes, upon booking with us, we will assist you in selecting the most appropriate flights.
We wish to make your journey as memorable and diverse as possible. We have handpicked a superb collection of quality, local and authentic restaurants. All selected restaurants propose a genuine cuisine using local & seasonal products. Contrary to other Tour operators, ALL meals are included, with matching wines and mineral water. Although Tour de France journeys do not include a Michelin * dinner, we will host a gala dinner on Thursday evening. All hotels and restaurants cater to specific dietary needs; do not hesitate to inform us in advance.
We have selected some of the best bikes currently on the market.We have selected the best machines based on the terrain. For each journey corresponds a specific bike selection bike selection. Selected bikes are similar to "Tour de France peloton" machines, you may also wish to upgrade to a superior bike category upgrade your bike. You may also bring in your personal bike, and enjoy a discount
Each day, your road captain will open the road, lead you through charming villages, traffic-less country roads, advise on how to tackle the next climb and all the while, ensure your safety and comfort. As experienced cyclists, we know that it is always reassuring to feel a presence along the way. This is why a support vehicle will follow you in case of a puncture or if you need beverages, snacks, an extra layer or even wish to rest for a while.
On most of the days, several mileage and speed average options will be available to suit all fitness levels. All year long, Road Captains do work very hard to make your BéloVélo journey as memorable and authentic as possible. At the end of your journey, You may recognise such dedication by tipping your Road Captains based on your level of enjoyment we advise tipping 6 to 10 % of your Journey price.
