Conquering the "Giant of Provence" Mont-Ventoux will definitely be this weeks’ milestone. Contrary to Wout Van Aert, in 2021, you will climb the "Bald mountain only once, from Bedoin side.. After at least 2 hours of intense effort, not only will you enjoy an exceptional vista up to the Alps, but also a deep sense of personal achievement. This climb is considered as the toughest in professional cycling.
Throughout this week you will explore the beautiful sun-drenched countryside roads, enjoy the cicada songs, ride through hilltop terracotta villages,and experience the slow pace of Provence and its world-famous cuisine and hospitality.
Shortly after arriving at your charming hotel in Gordes (one of France’s most beautiful villages), your road captain will lead you on a short loop to Limoux. This will be the perfect way to get accustomed to your bike, to get to know your fellow riders, discover the Provençale roads and maybe hear a few cicada.

Today's profile features a circuit around "Les Gorges de La Nesque" ( 18,6 Km at 2,3 %). Beforehand we will pass by the beautiful Senanques Abbey (12th Century), its lavender fields and its “nasty” climb (2,2km at 7,7 %). Today will be the perfect balance between superb sceneries, quiet roads carved in the mountain and a great warm-up before The Giant of Provence.

Looking solely at todays distance and elevation, could be deceiving. Today we will visit several historic villages of Vaucluse. To enjoy those historical wonders, you will need, each time to make a short but intense effort, as each village seats on a hilltop. Worth mentioning that we will pass by Marquis de Sade's castle & a Roman bridge dating back 3 BC

A great scenic ride that will lead us to our “base for our last 2 nights : chateau de Mazan. We will pass thru Isle sur la Sorgue, famous for its antiques stores and waterwheels on the Sorgue river. One of today's’ highlights will be our lunch : a superb Provençal lunch, set along pristine water flowing from the nearby spring

Today is “Le Jour J” (D-day): The Giant of Provence awaits you. Mont Ventoux is part of the Tour de France history. It witnessed fierce batlles, in between Eddy Merckx & Poulidor, tragedy with the death of Tom Simpson in 1967. More recently you may remember Froome running the last few meters after a crash with a motorbike (2016). in 2021, Mont Ventoux was climbed twice by the peloton, with Wout Van Aert claiming the victory. Once you’ve conquered the Giant of Provence (21 Km at 7,45 %) one feels a deep sense of self-achievement. During the 2 hours + of efforts, one may meditate, while others may simply think of the non-stop 20 km of downhill that follows. Your road captain tip : breathe well, relax and ensure that your Strava is on!

very early ride, to admire the sunrise over the "Provençale" countryside, this is also an opportunity to witness the nature waking up and at the same time rewind together the memories of the week, we will then head back to the hotel for an "Au Revoir" breakfast. vi

Flying to France: To minimize the risk of delays, recover from jet lag, we do advise you to land in Paris (CDG) on Saturday (Journey start on Sunday noon). To reach Avignon you will board a TGV (high-speed train) in Gare de Lyon, for TGV information, bookings please check https://www.raileurope.com/index.html
We will welcome you at Avignon TGV station on Sunday at 12.00 pm. While we do not handle train & plane booking we would be happy to advise on the best travel options. At the end of your journey, on Friday, we will drive you back to Avignon TGV station, to be able to board your return TGV from 12:00 pm onwards

Each day, your road captain will open the road, lead you through charming villages, traffic-less country roads, advise on how to tackle the next climb and all the while, ensure your safety and comfort. As experienced cyclists, we know that it is always reassuring to feel a presence along the way. This is why an assistance vehicle will follow you in case of a puncture or if one needs beverages, snacks, an extra layer or even wish to rest for a while.
Every day several mileage and speed average options will be available to suit all fitness levels. To provide a genuine, safe and personalized experience the group size will be limited to 15 guests in a week.
